Reconciling conservation and sustainable use of tropical biodiversity at the ATBC Annual Meeting in Montpellier

This year, the ATBC annual meeting, the largest scientific association discussing conservation issues in the tropics, was hosted in the city where the sun never sets, Montpellier. "How can we reconcile conservation and sustainable use of tropical biodiversity?". This question was the main theme of the conference and coincidently is at the heart of ForDev’s work.

The ForDev projects were strongly represented during the various sessions on bushmeat hunting, agro-ecological landscape, community forestry, forest dynamics, or integrating human perceptions and needs in conservation.

The 53rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) took place from the 19th to 23th June 2016, and gathered more than 700 experts from 51 countries in Montpellier. The event is co-organized by CIRAD, the IRD, INRA and the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle.
